We Must Have More than Just Words
“And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:14)
“Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.” (Mark 8:25)
We are a very word-centered people and rightfully so! The Scriptures are a great treasure through which we come to know the God that made us. The gospel itself is a message - a word of hope for the world!
Yet we falter when we lose sight of this simple truth - all these words mean nothing unless Christ has been raised from the dead and unless the Holy Spirit of God is actively at work in our hearts and in our world.
We must have more than words. We must have Christ himself! No amount of preaching or studying will ever take the place of a true encounter with the Living God. Our prayer is that as we open up our hearts to the Word of God, that Jesus will touch the eyes of our heart again, so that once again we can see Him and the world around us clearly.
